About US
GARO is a student-run organization based at the University of Virginia and founded on three fundamental beliefs:
1. Genocide is preventable.
2. Proper and thorough understanding of the process of genocide is the
precondition for any efforts to prevent or eradicate the phenomenon.
3. The students of the world have a valuable and unique role to play in
genocide prevention.
These three beliefs result in a unique student-run organization that approaches the issue of genocide from an academic perspective. Our location at the world-renowned University of Virginia affords us with valuable resources in organizing lecture series, symposiums, and conducting our own research. Through such activities we are striving to make our own contributions to the global anti-genocide movement.
